Opposablity of the Thumb
This anatomical illustration was created from 5 different specimen; a live hand, a skeleton, 2 prosected specimen and a Thiel preserved cadaver to ensure anonymity of the specimen. It shows the structure of the hand; bones, skins, tendons and muscles involved in finer movement.
Cover Image
An image of evolving enzyme luciferase showing its glowing properties. This was done as a cover image for a paper for the researchers in Loschmidt Laboratories of Protein Engineering. The final image had several versions, this was created using Photoshop and ProteinImager whcih helped depict the pdb. files.
Cryptosporadium
This mock A3 poster was designed to inform attendees at conferences about the current research into the Cryptosporadium parasite and how the team at Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery unit (School of Life Sciences) at the University of Dundee conducts it. The research team only required the gametogenesis of the female crypto and the 4 ways of growing organoids, however it was nice to tie it all together in a poster with the information that the researcher provided.
I Love Glasgow
This illustration is a part of a short simple 2D animation done with Photoshop and AftreEffects for a company that promotes local venues in Glasgow.
The Wormuvian Man
Above is the final logo and the images that preceded the final product of the ‘Wormuvian Man’. The Wormuvian Man was originally drawn by a PhD student, Francesco Vacca (picture 3), researching the helpful effect of parasitic worms on lessening asthmatic symptoms in mice. His ‘Wormuvian Man’ is based on DaVinci’s drawing of the Vitruvian Man. This research was conducted at the University of Dundee, in the division of Cell Signaling and Immunology which belongs to the School of Life Sciences. Re-creating the logo for the purpose o public engagement made up my second independent project. It was done in collaboration and help from Dr McSorley. I have digitized the original image and added visual explanation of molecular reactions to the outside circle. The exact explanations are described in the second picture and focus on the discovery of molecules HpBARI and HpARI. The full journal article was published as an open access journal article in eLife l in May, 2020. To read the full paper, please click the button below:
