Retezat Mountains, Romania

Somewhere in the Retezat Mountains mid-way through our journey. The top shows a view of Lake Bucara which is elevated at 2040m and is the largest glacier lake in Romania. The bottom image is the view from a mountain overlooking some more hills that we had to cross to get back to the cabin (and didn’t know it at the time).

Dublin, Ireland

Lockdown was recently eased to up to 5km radius within your house in Ireland. Here are some sights I encountered on my daily walks. My favourite is the heron, who was always looking for something to eat (mostly baby ducklings), the Samuel Beckett Bridge, the chimneys of Poolbeg Generating Station in Dublin Bay and locks on the Grand Canal.

Museum of WorkNorrköping, Sweden

Norrköping has some of the coolest, industrial-looking buildings I have ever seen. For example, the Museum of Work depicted here is an old factory towering by the river.

Fineliners on smooth ivory paper and promarkers

Visualization Center C in Norrköping, Sweden

More lovely architecture in Norrköping. This shows a sketch of the Visualization Center C standing by the Motala ström river system. The Visualization Center is part of the Linköping University campus in Norrköping and holds a lot of cool technology, such as the dome, AR arena, interactive tables, and much more. Definitely worth visiting not just for the exhibitions inside but also for the views outside.

Fineliners on smooth ivory paper and promarkers

Varmekyrkan in Norrköping, Sweden

Varmekyrkan (heat church) is an industrial building that is repurposed as a concert venue. Pretty neat, and another great example of why Norrköping is often reffered to as the Manchester of Sweden.

Delicate Arch, Utah

The Delicate Arch in Arches National Park located in Moab (Utah, USA), is probably the most beautiful place I have ever visited. Here it is painted with watercolour and fineliners, accompanied by the fly-eating flowers that were occupying my mind, apparently.

Bowling Green Pub in Exeter

Sketches from one of my favourite places in Exeter. Thinking of the Bowling Green always brings back smile on my face, because whether I was working behind the bar or sharing a pint with my friends, I was always having a good time. Above you can see sketches of some of the locals (including the dog), fireplace, view from behind the bar and one of the popular pints in SW England, Doombar.

Barcelona, Spain 1

Visit to Spain a few years back. First time in Barcelona was quiet memorable because of how vibrant a beautiful the city is. Not sure what was most enjoyable; the people, architecture, food, markets, beaches or events. Just so it happens, they had the Pride on which fell on June 26th, 2015, when the US legalised gay marriage in all 50 states, hence the photo in the bottom right.

Glasgow, Scotland

I have lived in Glasgow only for a year, but it became my favourite city I have lived in so far. As they say, ‘people make Glasgow’ ( a very true saying) and there is always something going on, whether it be gigs, exhibitions or just a nice pub session. My favourite memories are the daily walks to uni, either by the River Clyde or through the Kelvingrove Park. I haven’t expected much when I moved there, but I absolutely fell in love with it. Usually I’m very much at peace when I move from place to place, which is often, but leaving Glasgow made me genuinely sad and I always look forward to visiting again

Amsterdam, Netherlands

My first ever trip to Netherlands, contrary to what is usual, did not revolve around a visit to Amsterdam. After visiting a port city of Vlissingen, I had a few hours to spare in Amsterdam before my flight because of weird train schedules. This meant that I arrived there at 4 am and kept meeting people stumbling back to their hotels after a night out. It was nice to have a quiet walk in the chilly morning by the canals, visit coffee shops for the coffee just to keep myself awake for my 11 am flight and of coarse, visit the Micropia Museum the second they opened. Tardigrades are so cool by the way!
