Visual storytelling and immersive media day

The Visual storytelling and immersive media day took place on the 14th of January, 2022. It was an event that showcased the final projects from the PhD Storytelling Course that lasted over a period of six months. The projects presented were Seasons of climate change, Effects of the Rings- A story of choice, and About time- Let’s become agents of change. Other than taking part in our project, Effects of the Rings, and its presentation, it was my pleasure to be part of the panel discussion about the role of storytelling in science. It was also great to hear keynote speakers Cornelia Auer talk about the important issue of climate change and how the relevant data could be made more accessible and more impactful, as well as Martin Krzywinski speak about the principles of effective data visualisation in science. The event was held online as a result of yet another wave of the COVID-19 pandemic but was just as enjoyable. Not only did it allow us to share information and newly created projects, but also allowed us to re-unite after several months after the end of parts 1 and 2 of the course.

We are currently working on a paper related to the Effects of the Rings.
